Alberta - British Columbia - Saskatchewan Joint Cabinet Meeting

On March 13, 2009, the Premiers and Cabinets from Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan met in Vancouver where they discussed topics relating to internal trade, innovation, pensions, and gang violence prevention. At their meeting Premiers agreed to begin discussions on a new western economic partnership that will establish an open, efficient and stable domestic market encompassing Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.

Premiers and Ministers met in Calgary on September 11, 2009 where they signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Carbon Capture and Storage Technology and Policy so that provinces can work collaboratively to coordinate and advance research, policy and communications activities related to carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies and policies to facilitate achievement of climate change and economic development priorities.
Premiers also signed the Western Economic Partnership, which will create a broad western interprovincial trade agreement to create the largest barrier-free trade and investment market in Canada. The partnership will also enhance collaboration on international marketing, innovation and procurement.Memorandum of Understanding on Collaboration on Carbon Capture and Storage Technology and Policy
