North Asia Relations

Alberta has strong trade and social ties with many countries in the North Asia Region.
The North Asia region is the second most important export destination accounting for 42% of Alberta's non-U.S. exports.
Overall, exports to the region increased from $5.1 billion in 2007 to $5.9 billion in 2008.
Since 2004, China has been the second largest market for Alberta after the United States. Japan is Alberta's third most important export destination.
Three of the province's oldest twinning relationships are with areas in this region, including Heilongjiang, China; Hokkaido, Japan; and Gangwon, South Korea.
